There could hardly have been a less auspicious time to start up a new business organization. When the GE X-Ray Corporation was launched on January 18, 1930, “Black Monday” and “Black Tuesday” – the second and third worst days in the history of the U.S. stock market and, arguably, the most catastrophic – were hardly 3 months in the past.
